Riverwalk: The Future Baxter Village of Rock Hill

Here’s what I love about my job.  I have access to see the up and coming communities before anyone else!  Yesterday, brokers from the Charlotte, Rock Hill, and Lancaster areas were invited to the new Riverwalk Community that is located just off Exit 82-B on I-77.  I got to go in place of my mom, enjoyed a great meal from Mac’s Speed Shop (OMG the barbecue, the green beans, and mac-n-cheese was to DIE for! Check out their menu here…they cater…), and got to take an exclusive tour around the community.

First, I want to talk about the already completed amenities Riverwalk has to offer…the first being Brakefield at Riverwalk.  This 3000 square foot grand hall with gorgeous river views has been in construction for quite some time.  When I first visited Riverwalk back in October to stroll along the trail, I seriously thought it was an abandoned mega mansion.  But I couldn’t be further from the truth.  Yesterday, we we welcomed to the sound of a banjo band, soaring ceilings, gorgeous light fixtures, and one of the prettiest places you can have an outdoor wedding ceremony in Rock Hill.  This treasure has already been booked for 9 events this summer.  It will not be long until this event hall is the talk of the town.  Brides, looking for a place to have your wedding/reception? Visit here.

The Brakefield is going to be great for weddings and events!

After lunch and a great presentation about the community, I was one of the brave souls who climbed in to the golf carts and took the rain drenched ride around the community.  I felt like a kid in a candy store!  The Riverwalk Trail, where so many walkers, runners, and bikers have already been enjoying the serene views during their workouts will soon be lined with local restaurants, shops, and parks for the kids.  This 2.5 mile long trail is great and one of my favorite places to get in a leisurely run.  Check it out during the week…it’s PACKED on the weekends.

Take a Stroll Along the River...

Next, we got to see the Velodrome.  Have no idea what that is?  Then you may not be aware of the SIGNIFICANT awesomness that will be descending upon Rock Hill!  The Velodrome opened in march and hosted pro and novice bikers alike.  In the months leading up to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, elite cyclists will be training here in Rock Hill.  And where will they be training? At the Velodrome at Riverwalk!  Pretty sweet, huh?  Here’s why the city of Rock Hill is thrilled to have a sports-style community growing up along the banks of the Catawba. We are a sports tourism city, between our college sports, excellent parks, and hosting the United States Disk Golf Championship, we draw some crowds from afar who spend their money here in town.  Each year, Rock Hill’s economy gets a $50 million boost from tourism alone.  Think of the push Riverwalk will be giving Rock  Hill with these beauties:

  • Canoe and Kayak Center
  • YMCA
  • BMX Bike Course
  • Rock climbing Walls
  • Community Pool

What took the cake though?  The new model home that officially opened a few weeks ago.  I just…cannot…it’s beautiful!  Enough talk, check it out!
